I invite you to join me in a morning of

Mindfulness & Yoga

Saturday 19 July, 9.00 – 1.00

The Studio, Space at the Quay Gym,

Fen Lane, Beccles, NR34 9BH

Did you know Mindfulness & Breathwork lower your resting heart rate as well as lower blood pressure

Self-care practices are essential for mental and emotional wellbeing.

Going on a retreat is a great way to change perspective or kickstart a new habit  -  whether you’re working too hard, dealing with stress, or simply need some time to pause from the pressure of everyday life – this is a time when you can switch off your phone and give yourself a good dose of self-care, to soothe your body and calm your mind.

Although the day itself is not a course – the intention for the day is to provide an opportunity to understand our mind a little better through our acceptance and non-judgmental awareness in the practices.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions about how mindfulness can help manage anxiety, stress, insomnia or illness.

What you’ll practice:

  • Start with a Breath -  It’s in the stillness of our meditation practice that our breath connects us to our body, mind and spirit.  Slow deep breathing allows the body to relax as you gently exhale, simple instructions, intended to slow down the heart rate, but what you may not realise is that these slow deep breaths, especially the exhalation, signal to the body that it’s in a state of calm.  It can now rest and digest, tend and befriend.
  • Gentle Yoga -  will be slow, smooth and steady – grounding on our foundation – to create stability by connecting to the earth.
  • Guided Mindfulness practices - an opportunity to experience how mindfulness can help calm the breath and heal the mind and body.
  • Yoga Nidra - A deep, healing relaxation for both the body and mind, allowing our nervous system to do it’s job of maintaining balance – ‘rest & digest’.

The Retreat is perfect for beginners and those with a little more experience.  It’s a day to meet-up with old friends and mix with like minded people.  So simply bring your mat, perhaps a blanket, and any other props that will allow you to stay comfortable.

For many, this is a wonderful way to spend a few hours and an opportunity to step-out of our day-to-day busy doing mode of mind and recharge.   A day to just BE.

Refresh & Renew – Harmony of the heart space

As always my New Year retreat is open to all levels of practitioner to enjoy, rest and rejuvenate in the qualities of the heart space (also known in yoga as cave of the heart), connecting with the qualities of peace, joy, harmony and love. But, at the same time learning simple yoga and mindfulness practices to relax and calm both the mind and body.

This supportive day will take you on an inner journey bringing balance to our own inner nature, helping us discover more inner joy, stability and clarity.

What you’ll practice:

    • Gentle therapeutic yoga stretches/poses, which can be performed on a chair.
    • Guided breathing practice – we can’t hope to bring our stress under control or release tensions without first bringing our breath under control, as the breath and stress are intimately linked.
    • Guided mindfulness practice – an opportunity to experience how mindfulness can help calm the breath and heal the mind and body.
    • Yoga Nidra – A deep, healing relaxation, relaxing the body and mind, allowing our nervous system to do it’s job of maintaining balance – ‘rest & digest’.

Who is this retreat suitable for?:

  • Whether you’re an experienced meditator, or just beginning, discover the benefits of simple yoga and mindfulness practices with an experienced teacher.
