An Introduction to Mindfulness & Meditation

The Simpler, the Better
We often make mindfulness & meditation more complicated than it needs to be. We might think there’s a right way to do it, that we can’t meditate because our mind is too busy, or we need to sit on the floor Budha-like.
This short 2-week course explores what mindfulness is (and isn’t). Mindfulness is simply being present with the way things are for us. That’s it! And, sitting for meditation is about being comfortable, so yes you can sit on a chair.
Nothing to get right or wrong.
Of course, we’ll look at techniques like focusing on the breath and being aware of how our body feels. And, you don’t need to stop thinking – it’s the job of the mind to think, and yes the mind will likely wander, perhaps over-thinking, catastrophizing, stories we tell ourselves. But, with mindfulness, we learn to gently come back to what matters – that’s the journey of mindfulness and meditation towards greater peace and ease.
You also don’t need to understand mindfulness theory, or the psychology behind it to benefit. Just like going to the gym to get fit, mindfulness and meditation offers its benefits through direct experience.
So if you’re struggling with a busy mind and want to learn how to calm and ground yourself this short course will teach you how to practice meditation, and to help, I’ll provide access to recorded guided meditations for use between classes and for on-going practice.
The course is for complete beginners, but at the same time, it a good opportunity for those who may have already completed a Mindfulness course, or who are established meditators, to refresh and renew their practice.
